I have a new, well, new to me, online Linux machine. Sycorax, my previous online Linux machine, was getting slow and cranky, and the version of Linux it was running had a version of Firefox that choked all the time. It was getting so I didn't dare open anything. zorinth chose this one from Craigslist and set it up with Ubuntu. It should last me five years. Sycorax did just over six. It's called Atlas, because it's enormous -- it's as big as Giant Ant, and much blacker. It also has DSL, which I'm not yet entirely sure about. It's so fast! And it's online all the time. I keep feeling I shouldn't leave it online on its own. Oh well, I expect I'll get used to it.

Enthusiastic Farthing review.

Many of the blue seeds I planted last week have sent up tiny tiny green shoots. I love that bit where you suddenly have something growing where before there was just bare dirt. They're not a millimetre high, but already they have minute leaves. I'm really excited about them. This weekend I'll put some herbs in, which will be lovely and very useful, but not so magical, because they'll be alive already.

How does "Conversations with Fairies and People" sound as a title? It made Z pretend to stick his fingers down his throat, which isn't a good sign. I can't really call it "The Industrial Landscape of Elfland" because it isn't about Elfland.
